Cute Art, Cute Kitchen

I haven't had the chance to do a lot of art recently, other than a commission I've been working on, thus the lack of posts lately. However, now the commission is finished, and I've got a little more time.

Even though I'm falling behind a bit on the boys' books, I really needed some fun art time, so I decided to do a piece in my "Self" Journal. I didn't try and convey any special meaning, or illustrate any particular event; I simply did art for the fun of it, which was wonderfully freeing! I need to do more art like that- the problem is just lack of time!

As you can see, some of the text on the piece reads "you receive this small gift from me". This represents the fact that I was giving myself a gift by allowing myself to do this piece without any obligation or expectation. And I quite like the result, if I do say so myself!

I also wanted to show you the adorably cute doll-sized kitchen set I found on Ebay. Isn't it wonderful? The colors are just perfect in my studio- I absolutely love it! What's funny, though, is that I've collected a few different vintage doll stoves, etc., and I really don't even cook myself! I'm one of those lucky girls whose husband does most of the cooking, so I'm not quite sure where my fondness for miniature appliances comes from! I guess maybe it's the "miniature" aspect of it- I'm always a sucker for anything that is miniaturized...

Anyway, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I've got an extra little turkey cooking in my little oven here, if anyone wants to come join me!

Corey, the art looks great.
But, i must say i am coveting your kitchen set. i too love miniatures and often scout flea markets for the metal iceboxes, and the old Easy bake ovens.
I did a piece of work for my sister as a gift using your techniques from your book. i will email it to you, once i find the file my daughter put it in.
Thanks for your generous inspiration. marilyn

How cute - the mini appliances. I stumbled upon your book today at Borders and snatched it up and I LOVE it! Your work is so inspirational. My youngest is 18 months and I am finally getting to have more time to create and spend time in the studio.

So anyway - you have a new blogfan!

Corey,
I am in the midst of reading your book, the art of personal imagery, and have so enjoyed and learned from it. The most poignant being the encouragement to release notions of perfect photos, the courage to show the sides of myself not conventionally pretty and to meld these photos into my art. Also, love your chapter on taking the time to look introspectively at our own symbols, a step beyond recognition and understanding of archetypes. We all have full creative lives. Just wanted to leave you this link because it was your book that inspired this post, for whenever an extra moment arises. Be well! http://wildvines.blogspot.com/2007/11/your-soul-in-its-brightness-and.html

Now all you need is a Blythe doll to go with your Reading Deluxe kitchen set!! These sets are coveted among Blythe collectors, and hard to find in such good condition! Way to go!

I come from Rosemary's Living as Rosa! I LOVE this -- I think you will become one of my regular stops!

The kitten art is THE best -- but then, I haven't met a kitten I didn't like!

Okay, I have to add you as a favorite on my blog site. I know when I've posted three comments in one night I have found someone who inspires me and has something in common. I posted about this kitchen set in my blog post! How funny to see it here. I just love my set!!!
